We are hiring a Financial Accountant position who will support the accounting and finance function of the Company within our Investments Group. Core responsibilities include supporting the periodic close process for various investment entities, preparation of investor reporting materials, day-to-day accounting for additional investment deployments and realizations, and certain cash management functions. The ideal candidate will be a CPA and have two to four years of public accounting or industry experience in financial services.
The role will report to the Senior Manager of Investments and be based in Burford’s Chicago office.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
• Perform the quarterly close process for our investment entities and prepare them for consolidation.
• Execute and manage investment related transactions, including deployments, realizations, and valuations.
• Assist with the preparation of the annual audited and quarterly reviewed financial statements.
• Assist other business units, such as investor relations and case management, with their investment related questions and needs.
• Drive continuous improvement in making our processes and controls more efficient.
• Participate in ad hoc department projects as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS DESIRED
Qualifications & Experience
• Ideal candidates will have two to four years of accounting experience at a nationally recognized public accounting firm or a financial services firm.
• CPA certification or demonstrated progress toward certification.
• Proficient with financial statements prepared under U.S. GAAP.
• Experience with Private Capital Suite (PCS ERP), Sage Intacct and Blackline a plus.
