The Finance team is currently undergoing significant growth and, as part of this transformation, is enhancing its FP&A function in order to improve management reporting and accountability at Burford. We are seeking a senior FP&A associate who will play an integral role in helping to develop the function. In addition, the role will provide the opportunity of interacting regularly with the CFO, Chief Strategy Officer, and rest of management committee. The ideal candidate will have 4-5 years’ experience in FP&A and a strong knowledge of accounting and financial statements.
The base compensation range for this role is $115,000 - $135,000 depending on experience. Burford also pays a discretionary annual bonus and provides welcome and annual RSUs to all full-time employees.
The role will be based in Burford’s New York office and will report to the Head of FP&A.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
• Development of the annual operating expense forecast and budget, along with monthly budget to actual reporting, including analysis of variances, headcount, and tracking of KPI’s
• Preparation and enhancement of complex financial models to support decision-making across the organization (e.g., forecasting of main capital structure metrics, liquidity scenario analysis, profitability projection, etc.)
• Forecasting P&L, balance sheet, liquidity and cash flow, and taking responsibility for company’s proprietary model to perform various analyses including stress tests, analysis of goodwill impairment and going concern assessment
• Contribute to process improvements and enhance reporting capabilities to support business growth and data analysis efficiency and accuracy
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Legal, Finance, Business Units, etc.) to ensure alignment of financial plans with strategic objectives
• Ad hoc management reporting requests from Management Committee, Board, and other Finance team support as requested
SKILLS DESIRED
Qualifications & Experience
• 4-5 years FP&A experience and proven working knowledge of accounting, budgeting and forecasting, variance analyses, financial modeling, and corporate finance
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. MBA/CFA/CPA or advanced degree is a plus
• Proficiency in excel, business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI dashboard), financial systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP or similar Enterprise Performance Management tools). Understanding of Python is desirable.
• Experience at a financial services company would be a plus
