We are seeking a Manager, Valuations to join our finance function and support the preparation and reporting of fair values for Burford’s financial assets under US GAAP. Reporting to the Valuations Modeling Leader and working closely with the Chief Accounting Officer and the Chief Valuation Officer, this role will be central to managing the operational and SOX-related processes that underpin our valuation framework.


The Manager will focus on developing efficient processes, substantiating and validating key inputs, coordinating reporting, and supporting audit requirements. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented, creative thinker with strong project management and Excel skills who enjoys problem solving and process improvement in a dynamic environment.


The role will report to the Valuations Modeling Leader and be based in Burford’s New York office.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

 


• Valuation Inputs – Vet, assess, and substantiate key inputs used in the fair value process, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and consistency.
• Operational Processes – Support and enhance the operational processes for preparing valuations and related reporting.
• Internal Reporting – Assist with preparation of materials for the Valuation Committee, ensuring clarity and rigor in analysis.
• External Reporting – Support valuation-related disclosures in 10-Ks, 10-Qs, and other financial reports.
• Audit & SOX Controls – Partner with external auditors to support SOX control testing and substantive audit procedures.
• Process Improvement – Identify, design, and implement process improvements and system enhancements to drive efficiency and strengthen controls.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration – Work closely with underwriting and quantitative modeling teams to ensure alignment on inputs, assumptions, and analysis.

 


SKILLS DESIRED


Qualifications & Experience


• 5+ years of experience in finance, audit, valuations, or related fields.
• Strong Excel and analytical skills; ability to manage and interpret complex data sets.
• Experience with SOX-related processes and working with external auditors.
• Some exposure to valuations is preferred.
• Proven project management and organizational skills, with success in developing efficient processes.
• Preferred: Prior experience in financial services or another regulated industry
