The Firm has created a Payment Specialist position who will be the primary initiator of external as well as intercompany wire transfers while following internal processes to obtain and document all required departmental and management approvals.

 

 

SUMMARY


The Payment Specialist will be a valued, go-to person in Burford’s cash management process; one of the most important operational functions of our business. This position offers the opportunity of closely collaborating with the Corporate Treasury function.


A critical part of Burford’s business is providing capital to our customers throughout the world. Those capital requests follow a strict and important process including the initiation and approval of capital funding requests and the initiation, approval, and confirmation of the cash movements for such requests. Cash movements often require numerous steps to comply with our organizational and structuring needs. The Payment Specialist will follow Burford’s processes to obtain and document necessary approvals and initiate wire transfers. Cash movements and wire transfers can be either to external counterparties or they may be internal wires (intercompany wire transfers).


The role will report to Burford’s Senior Manager, Group Investments and be based in Burford’s Singapore office

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES


External Wires
• Receive cash movement requests
• Obtain/validate approvals
• Initiate wires
• Complete documentation


Internal Wires
• Receive cash movement requests
• Investigate appropriate roadmap for intercompany cash movements
• Coordinate with accounting, tax, treasury, or other personnel to validate and document required cash movements
• Complete documentation


Treasury Related Activities
• Support daily cash management activities, including cash positioning
• Initiate intercompany borrowings and lending’s
• Management of bank accounts, including bank account opening/closing/changes, signature cards update and bank account database maintenance
• Bank fee analysis and forecast
• Additional responsibilities are possible within the corporate treasury department for the individual that demonstrates strong treasury skills.

 

SKILLS DESIRED


Qualifications & Experience
•Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, preferably in finance or other business-related field
•At least four years’ experience in treasury or complex A/P function


Competencies & Skills
• Diligence and adherence to strict processes
• Comfortable familiarity with financial institution portals
• Process oriented
• Excellent documentation skills
• Proficient in navigating financial institution portals
• Experience with cash management applications (e.g., Kyriba) a plus.
• Effective communication skills, verbal and written
• Able to function with limited direct supervision

• Hybrid work environment (in office 3 days per week, minimum)
